Linda Neal, CGA

Vice President of Finance and Operations
Linda joined George Media in July, 2009 as Director of Finance and Operations. Responsible for the finance functions and general operations, Linda brings a wealth (pun intended) of experience to her role.

She is a Certified General Accountant (CGA), who prior to joining George enjoyed a long and successful career leading multifaceted Corporate Finance teams within several international insurance companies.

Linda`s financial and process improvement skills have been a key contributing factor to George Media`s rapid and successful growth.

Naveed Yusuf

Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer, Naveed Yusuf specialises in the company’s online development and circulation. It is Naveed’s internet savvy and technological skill set that is largely responsible for the considerable online presence of all five magazines in the George Media Network. As a key contributor in formulating strategic goals, Naveed continues to identify and exploit new tools to reshape the company's global reach.

Along with 11 years of industry experience, Naveed holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Accounting from the City University of New York. Naveed's post graduate studies were in Business Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis at The New York Institute of Technology.

Simon E Curran

Vice President and Publisher, The International Resource Journal
Simon is a qualified accountant who has brought considerable commercial experience to George Media. Prior to joining George he enjoyed a long and successful career, working for some of the industry's powerhouses, in the Film and Brand extension sectors.

It is this drive and commercial awareness which Simon brought to George Media in April 2009. As Vice President for the EMEA & APAC regions, and Publisher of The International Resource Journal, Simon has been the driving force behind the success and growth of George Media's UK operations and global reach.

When not focussing on business, he enjoys being an active member of his local rugby team and had a distinguished career playing for Otago (NZ) and London Irish rugby teams - it is this determination and competiveness that makes him a real asset to George Media.

Ben Weaver

Vice President and Publisher, The African Business Journal
Ben Weaver is the Vice President and Publisher of The African Business Journal  and Australian Business Journal. He is responsible for the growth and development of the UK office including the team and its revenue streams.

Ben has worked on a variety of B2B publications and has enjoyed success in building global relationships in a wide range of industries. He has built, developed and led sales teams in offices in the UK and Canada and has extensive experience in launching and managing new publications and projects. Ben’s decade of experience dealing with medium to large size companies across the globe, and liaising with senior level executives, helps him push the boundaries in digital media across Australia and Africa.

Sara Kopamees

Vice President and Global Editor in Chief

Sara has been with George Media since the company’s beginnings in 2008, and oversees the production of all publications in the George Media family. Sara serves as the primary spokesperson for George Media, and monitors all online content and cross-publication branding.

Sara holds an Arts degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and a post-graduate certification in corporate communications. Previously involved in agency and non-profit public relations, Sara’s strengths as a communicator have helped George Media leverage its profile through its magazines as well as in the public sphere.

Michael Alexander-Jones

President
Aided by just 5 colleagues, Michael launched George Media in the summer of 2008 with the intention of producing and distributing a single on-line business magazine, The Canadian Business Journal.

Eighteen months later, George Media now employs 40 fulltime staff, produces 5 business publications, conducts business across 6 continents and attracts a combined monthly audience of over 2 million audited readers accessing the publications online.

Supported by a talented and trusted management team, Michael oversees George’s daily operations and plays a leading role in the company’s current and future strategies.

Prior to opening the doors of George Media, Michael had worked for over a decade for a number of publishing companies - starting off in advertising sales and rounding-off his apprenticeship by taking on instrumental roles in launching start-up publishing companies and new business  titles across Canada, the UK and the US.
